Each year, the Arbor Day Foundation selects key locations for reforestation by measuring the effects of deforestation, tree disease, infestation by insects, and natural disasters like wildfires or severe storms. This year, Michigan State Forests were identified as areas of critical need, so we have chosen to focus our efforts there until we meet our 5,000 tree goal. Our commitment is to continue working closely with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant as many trees as possible.
Founded in 1972, the Arbor Day foundation has planted over 500 million trees in over 50 countries, from the mountains of Colorado to the jungles of South America. Over the next 5 years, they plan on doubling that amount. In Michigan alone, the Foundation has planted more than 24 million trees to date. Vessel’s donation will go to help rebuild Michigan State Forest.
The Arbor Day Foundation has been inspiring people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees since 1972. And that simple mission has had a global impact. The Foundation works to connect opportunities, people, and organizations to plant trees and forests to help solve some of the most critical issues facing our planet. Over the last 50 years, the Foundation has become the largest member nonprofit organization dedicated to planting trees.
